The Oyo State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, has pledged to address the prolonged electricity challenges in Ibarapa through the development of a solar farm dedicated to the geopolitical zone.
Adegoke made the promise in Igbo-Ora during a thank-you visit to Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North, where he outlined some of his proposed interventions if elected governor in 2027.
He said his administration would seek to reduce Ibarapa’s dependence on the national grid by generating electricity locally through a solar farm, which he said would provide more stable power to communities across the zone.
Adegoke also linked rural electrification to improved security, while promising to strengthen traditional institutions through the implementation of local government autonomy.
On agriculture, the ADC candidate pledged to provide farmers with modern equipment, improved high-yield seeds and access to loans through cooperative societies.
Adegoke, who said he was trained as an Agric-Economist at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, assured farmers that his proposed administration would provide resources and support aimed at improving agricultural production.
Earlier, the ADC Youth Leader in Ibarapa Central, Mr Ayodele Olanlere, appealed for stable electricity, greater economic opportunities, improved healthcare support and free education for youths in the area.
Olanlere also welcomed Adegoke’s rural electrification proposal, expressing optimism about its implementation.
