The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Lagos State, Prince Adelaja Adeoye, has said his aspiration is driven by a desire to deliver real governance to the people of the state.
Adeoye, a real estate entrepreneur, said in a statement on Tuesday that he was contesting not just to occupy Alausa, but to provide quality and accountable leadership.
He said Lagos is in desperate need of a leader who understands the true meaning of governance and can provide solutions to the multi-dimensional challenges confronting the state.
Adeoye vowed to reset Lagos through his Atunto Eko agenda and deliver the state of everyone’s dreams.
“Lagos does not need another ruler. Lagos needs a servant-leader. A leader who cares, a leader who listens, a leader who delivers,” he said.
According to him, quality leadership is not about occupying Alausa. It is about serving the people, with humility, accountability, and results they can feel in their daily lives.
“That is the leadership I am bringing. Under my watch, power will not be concentrated in the hands of a few. It will be service for all. We are going to reset Lagos through our Atunto Eko agenda,” he said.
Adeoye said Atunto Eko (Lagos Reset) is his strategy to build a better and more prosperous Lagos, focusing on housing, poverty reduction, jobs, health, environment, education and security.
On housing, he said Lagos has a deficit of over three million units, forcing residents to pay two years rent in advance. He promised to deliver 50,000 affordable rent-to-own homes in four years across Ikorodu, Epe, Badagry, Alimosho and Ibeju-Lekki using local materials and direct labour.
He promised to introduce a Lagos Rent Protection Scheme to enforce monthly rent and sanitize land administration.
On poverty reduction and wealth creation, he said his administration would establish Ekoowo, a N10 billion revolving micro-credit fund for market women, artisans, fishermen and nano-businesses at single-digit interest through cooperatives, and rebuild 20 major markets with solar power, cold rooms and creches.
For job creation and youth empowerment, Adeoye said he would establish industrial clusters in Badagry for coconut and aquaculture, Ikorodu for building materials, Epe for food processing, and Mainland/Yaba for fashion, film and tech.
According to him ,each cluster would have power, internet and off-taker guarantee to create 100,000 direct jobs in two years. Under his Eko Skill Code, 20,000 youths will be trained annually in solar installation, plumbing, coding and creative skills and linked directly to jobs.
On health, he promised to upgrade 250 Primary Healthcare Centres to 24-hour facilities with personnel, drugs, solar power and ambulances, and introduce the Eko Health Card, a N1,000 monthly contributory scheme for informal workers to access basic care, drugs and emergency services, while making antenatal and delivery free in all public hospitals.
On environment and waste management, he said Lagos generates over 13,000 tonnes of waste daily and must move to a waste-to-wealth model.
He said LAWMA would be reformed to drive waste sorting at source, pay households for recyclable plastics and create 15,000 green jobs in recycling and composting, while clearing primary drains and building 100 kilometres of lined drains to end perennial flooding.
On education, Adeoye said he would revive 10 technical colleges with modern equipment, provide free school meals sourced from Lagos farmers, increase teachers’ welfare by 30 percent, and deploy solar-powered digital classrooms in all public secondary schools.
On infrastructure, transportation and security, he promised to fix 500 inner roads through direct labour, introduce one-card ticketing for BRT, Blue Line and ferries, expand water transport to Ikorodu, Epe and Badagry, and boost security with community policing, solar streetlights and the Eko Safety App for rapid response.
He said Lagos is not broke but has suffered from lack of accountability, pledging to publish all contracts and expenditures online monthly for public tracking.
Adeoye said his Atunto Eko agenda would align perfectly with the vision of the presidential candidate of the APM, Governor Seyi Makinde, to make Lagos and Nigeria better.
He said Makinde has shown what servant-leadership can achieve in Oyo State through purposeful governance, noting that the same energy that transformed Oyo would transform Nigeria at the federal level.
“Look at what Governor Seyi Makinde has done in Oyo State. He is paying salaries on time without owing, he has revolutionised the state’s IGR, he built the an Agribusiness Industrial Hub that is creating jobs, he has upgraded schools and hospitals, and he has completed several road projects that previous governments abandoned,” he said.
According to him, Makinde has proven that governance is not rocket science, but about sincerity, competence and putting the people first.
Adeoye said Makinde has the capacity to fix the major challenges facing Nigeria, including insecurity, food insecurity and high cost of living, youth unemployment and japa syndrome, epileptic power supply, and the collapse of local industries.
“If Makinde can fix Oyo, he can fix Nigeria. He will bring state policing and modern security architecture to end banditry and kidnapping, he will ensure food security through massive agribusiness revolution, he will create real jobs for our youths to end japa, and he will restore investors’ confidence in our economy,” he stated.
He therefore urged Lagosians to vote for the APM in all elections for a better tomorrow.
“For a better Lagos and a better Nigeria, vote APM from top to bottom. Vote Seyi Makinde for President and vote Adeoye for Governor. This is how we reset Lagos and reset Nigeria together,” he said.
