Hon. Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire, popularly and politically known as Bibire, has generously donated N4.3 million to support PDP candidates running for various positions, from chairmanship to councillorship, in both Ibadan Southwest and Northwest local governments, ahead of the upcoming April 27 local government elections across the pacesetter State.
Recall that earlier this week, on Tuesday, Bibire made headlines by donating N2.1 million exclusively to the aspirants vying for chairmanship and councillorship positions within the Ibadan North Northwest local government, marking it as the highest single donation towards this cause.
Today, Thursday, during the Ibadan Southwest Ward 12 Campaign Flag Off and Campaign Council Visitation, Bibire continued his support towards the fast-approaching LG polls by making a substantial financial contribution of N2.2 million, distributed amongst all party candidates seeking positions from chairmanship to councillorship within Ibadan Southwest local government. This development, Polity Reporters confirmed, brings Hon. Bibire’s total financial support across both local governments to N4.3 million.
This news agency learned that Hon. Bibire, in addition to his financial support, has also taken additional steps to strengthen the party’s campaign efforts by placing campaign billboards at strategic locations while also branding a campaign bus.
In an interview with Polity Reporters at the event, Mr. Raphael Sunday, personal assistant to Hon. Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire, amplified his principal’s dedication to the party and love towards its candidates.
“Today’s donation is a testament to Hon. Bibire’s strong support for the party and his uncompromising desire to see its candidates succeed.
“Let me establish that Hon. Fagbenro’s commitment to the party extends beyond today’s contribution; he has established a strong track record of supporting the party and its candidates in every endeavor. Fact is that, since joining the party, he has consistently contributed to various election campaigns, demonstrably playing a significant role in the successful re-election of both Governor Makinde and Hon. Adedeji Stanley Odidi-omo, the representative for his federal constituency,” he said.
Bibire, in a conversation with Polity Reporters, characterized his donation as an expression of his love and dedication to the party. He added that the kind gesture was driven by his belief in collaborative efforts, saying that candidates can’t do it alone, they need everyone’s support to achieve electoral success.
Responding to the donation, the incumbent chairman of Ibadan Southwest local government, Hon. Kehinde Akande (seeking re-election), communicated his appreciation to Hon. Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire, commending him for his unbending commitment to the party and his support for all candidates in the local government— Ibadan Southwest. Hon. Akande concluded by praying to God to bless the selfless politician and that God will answer his prayers.
In appreciation of the commendable gesture, several PDP leaders in IBSW/IBNW, along with residents of the two local governments, lauded Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire for his steadfast commitment to the party’s interests. They said, “Despite not holding a government position, he remains loyal to the party, consistently utilizing his resources to bolster its activities and further its agenda.”
