As the world marks International Youth Day 2025, the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development under the visionary leadership of Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, has joined the global community in celebrating the energy, creativity, and leadership of young people, reaffirming its commitment to empowering youth as drivers of positive change.
In a statement released through the Head of Media Unit to the Chairman, Opeyemi Rasheed Socrates, to commemorate the occasion, Prince Adebowale described the youth as the “lifeblood of progress,” recognizing their role in shaping a more inclusive, innovative, and resilient future.
“The theme of this year’s celebration resonates deeply with the mission of the Pacesetter State,”
“The father of the Youth, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde has vowed to remain committed to providing platforms where young people can thrive, lead, and create sustainable impact.”
This year’s observance spotlights youth-led innovation, creativity, and social responsibility.
The Oyo State Government, through various youth-centered programmes and initiatives, continues to invest in capacity building, entrepreneurship, digital literacy, and civic engagement, positioning the state as Pride of the Southwest in youth development.
To mark the day, the agency hosted a series of community dialogues, mentorship forums, and skills workshops across local government areas. These activities were designed not only to celebrate achievements but also to foster peer-to-peer learning and inspire civic action among youth.
“Young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are leading today,” the Director-General added. “Our responsibility is to ensure they are equipped, supported, and heard.”
As Oyo State celebrates its youth, it also extends its message of solidarity to young changemakers across the globe, reinforcing the state’s identity as a pacesetter in promoting inclusive youth empowerment and development.
