As the August 16, 2025, bye-election for Ibadan North Federal Constituency draws near, the founder of the Omituntun Benedict Foundation and Grand Life Patron of the Nigerian Beauticians/Hairdressers Association (NBHA), Oyo State Chapter, Oloye Benedict Akika, has mobilized members of the NBHA in Ibadan North Local Government to throw their weight behind the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, popularly known as DON.
The bye-election, set to fill the vacant Ibadan North Federal Constituency seat following the passing of the former representative Late Hon Akinremi Jagaban, will see former Oyo State Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Fola Oyekunle DON, flying the PDP flag at the polls.
Oloye Akika, in his remarks in a gathering at Bodija Market while welcoming the PDP campaign trail which included the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Onifade, Campaign Secretary Prince Falana Adebayo Adebowale, Yisau Ajibola, Asiwaju YSO, and other party members reaffirmed his commitment to mobilizing grassroots support for the party’ and candidate. He commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his development in Oyo State most especially in Bodija market recently.
During the engagement, members of the NBHA in Ibadan North promised Hon Folajimi Oyekunle DON of their maximum of supports and also House to.Hosue campaign for him while in return, requested association bus, support for their association house in Podo, and empowerment initiatives once Hon. Oyekunle assumes office.
In his address, Hon. Oluwaseun Onifade urged members to turn out in large numbers for the PDP, describing it as the party that “gives hope and keeps promises.” He added:
“From Ward 1 to Ward 12, come out early to vote PDP and do not be intimidated by any threats to the electoral process. Adequate security is in place, and by Saturday, victory shall be for the PDP.”
Hon. Oyekunle, in his pledge to the association, promised regular interaction and feedback through town hall meetings with stakeholders, associations, and community leaders.
“It’s one of my plans to hold regular town meetings with my people, associations, and community leaders as a feedback mechanism. This is the only way to deliver effectively in public office, and I will not disappoint God or the people,” he assured.
The campaign team appreciated the grand life patron, Oloye Benedict Akika for the mobilisation and expressed optimism that the united front of PDP supporters, stakeholders, and grassroots mobilizers will secure victory for the party in Saturday’s poll.
