In a significant development, Chief (Mrs) Olubunmi Adesanya, the founder of the Nigerian Beauticians and Hairdressers Association (NBHA) Oyo State Chapter, has announced the official renaming of the Elewuro Zone to the Akika Zone.

The announcement was made during the grand finale of the 43rd Hair and Body Exhibition/Fundraising for Asewa House Building, held today in Ibadan.

Speaking at the event, Chief Adesanya acknowledged the tremendous contributions of the Elewuro Zone in the growth and success of the association.

“The Elewuro Zone brought the goodness which the association is enjoying today,” she said, reflecting on the pivotal role the zone has played in the association’s journey.

The renaming is seen as a tribute to Omoluabi Pataki Chief Benedict Akika, the Grand Life Patron of NBHA, and a prominent philanthropist and community leader.

Chief Akika, also known as Aare Agba’Akin Ataiyse Omoluabi Oodua Agbaye, was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the association and the community.
He is the founder of the Omituntun Benedict Foundation, which has been a key supporter of numerous social initiatives.

The decision to honour Chief Akika with the renaming of the zone underscores his influential role in the development of the beauty and hairdressing industry in Oyo State, as well as his deep commitment to advancing community welfare.

The grand finale of the exhibition also served as a major fundraising event for the reconstruction of the Asewa House, a project aimed at providing a permanent home for the association. The event was attended by numerous dignitaries, beauty professionals, and supporters, all united in their efforts to support the growth of the Nigerian beauty industry.
