Prince Laja Adeoye, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) governorship candidate in Lagos State, has felicitated teachers across the state and beyond on the occasion of the 2026 World Teachers’ Day, promising improved welfare and incentives for teachers if elected governor. Adeoye, who is campaigning on his “Reset Lagos” agenda, said teachers deserved to enjoy the rewards of their profession while still on earth, rather than waiting until the hereafter. His campaign platform identifies education as one of the major pillars of his proposed agenda for Lagos.

Adeoye said his administration would prioritise the welfare of teachers through better remuneration and improved access to social services, including housing and vehicle support. He also promised scholarship opportunities for the children of teachers, describing such interventions as part of measures to recognise the sacrifices and contributions of education workers to society.

The APM candidate further pledged to make education a major priority in the state’s annual budget if elected, saying the sector would receive a larger allocation that would surpass the UNESCO benchmark. He also promised to strengthen the education system from primary schools through tertiary institutions, with the stated objective of ensuring greater stability and continuity in the academic calendar.

According to Adeoye, prolonged industrial actions in the education sector would not be tolerated under his administration, as he believes an educated society is essential to social and economic development. He said his proposed education reforms would focus on creating an environment where teachers can work effectively and students can receive uninterrupted education.

The APM candidate also linked his education agenda to the broader “Reset” programme being promoted by the party, saying the drive to reform education in Lagos and Nigeria aligns with the presidential aspiration of Engineer Seyi Makinde. He urged Nigerians and Lagos residents to continue recognising the role of teachers in shaping future generations.
