Anthony Ehilebo, Special Adviser on Media and Digital Media Communication to Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate Seyi Makinde, has described Peter Obi’s appearance at the inauguration of Makinde’s presidential campaign office as a significant political development.

Ehilebo said the meeting between Makinde and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Obi was an event that would be remembered in Nigeria’s political history.

Obi attended the inauguration of Makinde’s campaign office in Abuja on Monday, where he called on political leaders to promote unity.

Speaking on Channels Television on Tuesday, Ehilebo also praised Makinde’s performance as governor of Oyo State, saying many Nigerians would want their own governors to replicate even half of his achievements.

He said: “I’m going to try and make sense from the last clip showing lots of Nigerians at that event, you can see the massive turn out and that goes to show the kind of love that Seyi Makinde has developed in the course of period that he has been governor of Oyo State.

“People from other states have wished that their state governors could have performed even if it’s 50 percent of what Makinde has done in Oyo State.

“It was an APC member that congratulated me first when my appointment was made and he went to a post I made in 2021 where I said the kind of president I wanted was Makinde, that was the post he decided to make his congratulations to.

“For me, it’s a story that predated the destiny that we are seeing right now to the extent that you have other presidential candidates coming to the opening of your campaign hub. It’s indeed something that would go into our history books as a political phenomenon if you call it that.”

Ehilebo said Obi’s attendance further demonstrated the political significance of Makinde’s campaign office launch and the growing attention surrounding the APM candidate ahead of the 2027 election
