The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan North has reportedly wrapped up key internal arrangements for the 2027 general elections, with leading stakeholders backing the return of three incumbent lawmakers to represent the party once again.

The decision, reached after consultations among party leaders and grassroots coordinators, saw Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, popularly known as DoN, endorsed for another term as member representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency.

Also favoured in the party’s latest political calculations are Hon. Gabriel Babajide for Ibadan North State Constituency II and Hon. Olufunke Comforter for Ibadan North State Constituency I, both of whom have reportedly secured support to seek fresh mandates.

Sources within the party said the move was driven by a desire to maintain stability, preserve existing structures and reward lawmakers considered loyal to the party’s ideals and connected to the grassroots.

The development is expected to calm internal permutations ahead of the primaries while giving the endorsed aspirants time to strengthen their support base across wards and communities in the local government.

Observers believe the early alignment by the PDP signals a strategic push to retain dominance in Ibadan North, one of the most politically significant areas in Oyo State.

With the party’s direction becoming clearer, political attention is now likely to turn to opposition camps and possible reactions ahead of the build-up to 2027.
