As the deadline for the ongoing voter registration exercise approaches, Oyo State House of Representatives hopeful, Oluwatobi John Ogunbayo (OJO), has called on eligible citizens to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) without delay.
The exercise, conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is expected to end on April 17, 2026, leaving a narrow window for prospective voters to complete their registration.
Ogunbayo, who is associated with Ibadan North West and Ibadan South West federal constituency, stressed the importance of active civic participation, noting that voting remains a powerful tool for shaping governance and determining the future of communities.
“Your vote is your power. This is not the time to sit on the sidelines,” he stated, particularly encouraging youths and first-time voters to take advantage of the opportunity.
He urged residents to visit INEC State offices, Local Government Area (LGA) offices, and other designated registration centres across the state to ensure they are eligible to participate in upcoming elections.
The call forms part of broader efforts by stakeholders to increase voter turnout and promote inclusive democratic engagement. Ogunbayo emphasized that registering to vote is not just a right, but a responsibility toward building a better and more responsive society.
He concluded by appealing to citizens to act promptly: “Let’s take responsibility, get involved, and work together to build a better tomorrow.”
