Prominent sons and daughters of Ikoyi-Ile in diaspora have commended the President, Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the swift establishment of the 169 Motorcycle Battalion of the Nigerian Army at Eshinele via Ikoyi-Ile in Oríire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The Battalion which has already been moved to Ikoyi-Ile the Headquarters of Oriire Local Government Area since August 2026 following the directive of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces have doused tension and apprehension across communities in the area following the bandit attack on forest guards at Oloka in January 2026 and the abduction of children and teachers from schools at Esinele and Yawota in May 2026.
The Ikoyi-Ile Community also thanked the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Army Staff for the prompt deployment of the Battalion presently stationed at Ikoyi-Ile.
The Ikoyi-Ile Community and indeed the enitre people of Oriire pledged to continue to provide support to the officers and men of the Battalion assuring them of their maximum cooperation. Their presence in Ikoyi-Ile and environs have greatly boosted the security architecture of the area.
The Ikoyi-Ile Community in diaspora also thanked the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, for ordering a fresh all inclusive process to filling the vacant stool of the Onikoyi of Ikoyi-Ile who remains the Paramount Ruler and Chairman of the Oriire Local Government Traditional Council, with prayers that this fresh process will not be delayed to make Oriire LGA entirely safe and secure from aggressive invaders and bandits.
They noted that these twin development will bring remarkable transformation to Ikoyi-Ile and communities across Oriire LGA and expand productive economic activities as farmers can now go back to their farms in peace.
