As Oyo State marks its golden jubilee, 50 years of creation and purposeful existence, Hon. (Chief) Akindipe Hammed Abiodun Akinsunbo [MPA], popularly known as Igba-Otun, the Supervisory Councillor for Works in Ibadan North-West Local Government, has joined millions of well-meaning citizens in celebrating Governor Seyi Makinde and the resilient people of Oyo State for the remarkable journey of growth, unity, and development.

In a warm and heartfelt message, Chief Akinsunbo, who also holds the revered traditional title of Mayegun of Eleyele/Arometa, described the Oyo @ 50 celebration as not only a milestone in history but a powerful testimony of the state’s enduring spirit, cultural heritage, and commitment to progress. He noted that the jubilee provides an opportunity for reflection, appreciation, and renewed dedication to building a stronger and more prosperous Oyo State.

“Oyo @ 50 is a celebration of hope, resilience, and vision. It is a celebration of a people who have refused to give up on their dreams and have continued to work collectively towards a greater future. Today, we honor our past, appreciate our present, and prepare boldly for our future,” he stated.

Chief Akinsunbo particularly congratulated His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, describing his administration as a defining chapter in the history of Oyo State. According to him, the achievements recorded under Governor Makinde’s leadership have given the state a new identity built on transparency, infrastructural renewal, economic growth, and people-oriented governance.

He praised the governor for his unwavering commitment to infrastructure development, noting that road construction and rehabilitation projects across urban and rural communities have improved connectivity, boosted commerce, and enhanced the standard of living of residents. From major highways to inner-community roads, Oyo State has witnessed a visible transformation that has made transportation safer and faster while opening up new economic opportunities.

“Governor Makinde has demonstrated that leadership is about service and impact. His bold investments in infrastructure, education, health, security, and agriculture have laid a solid foundation for sustainable development. Oyo State today is more attractive to investors, more organized in governance, and more hopeful in outlook,” Chief Akinsunbo remarked.

He also highlighted the administration’s achievements in education, describing the renovation of schools, recruitment of teachers, and support for technical and vocational education as strategic steps toward preparing the younger generation for future challenges. In the health sector, he commended the expansion and upgrading of healthcare facilities, which have improved access to quality medical services for citizens.

On security, Chief Akinsunbo applauded the establishment and strengthening of local security outfits and collaboration with conventional security agencies, which have contributed to peace and stability in many parts of the state. He stressed that no meaningful development can take place without a safe and secure environment.

The Supervisory Councillor further noted that Governor Makinde’s inclusive governance style has fostered unity among diverse communities in Oyo State, ensuring that development is not limited to a few areas but spread across the state. He described this as a hallmark of true leadership and a reflection of the governor’s love for the people.

While celebrating the governor’s achievements, Chief Akinsunbo extended his warm congratulations to the people of Ibadan North-West Local Government and the entire Oyo State. As the Supervisory Councillor for Works in Ibadan North-West Local Government, Chief Akinsunbo reaffirmed his dedication to complementing the efforts of Governor Makinde at the grassroots level. He emphasized his commitment to ensuring quality infrastructure, proper maintenance of public facilities, and effective implementation of projects that directly impact the lives of the people.
