A chieftain of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and House of Assembly aspirant for Ibadan North State Constituency II, Hon. Olasupo Adams, has commended the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, for flagging off the construction of the 4.5-kilometre Ijokodo–Agbaje Road, describing the initiative as a monumental legacy that could strengthen public confidence in grassroots governance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Olasupo, who expressed appreciation on behalf of residents of the Ijokodo–Agbaje community, described the road project as a welcome intervention for an area whose residents have endured years of infrastructural challenges. He noted that the decision to include the long-abandoned road in the council’s development plans demonstrated Olufade’s commitment to addressing the pressing needs of communities within Ibadan North Local Government.

According to the APM aspirant, the flag-off has rekindled hope among residents who have consistently called for government intervention to improve the road’s deplorable condition. He maintained that improved road infrastructure would enhance accessibility, ease transportation difficulties, support commercial activities and improve connectivity between Ijokodo, Agbaje and neighbouring communities. He added that the project, if completed as planned, would represent a significant step towards improving residents’ quality of life.

“On behalf of the entire Ijokodo–Agbaje community, I wish to express our profound gratitude for including our long-abandoned road in the flag-off exercise. Your thoughtfulness towards our people means a lot to us,” Olasupo stated, commending the council chairman for what he described as a demonstration of responsive leadership and concern for grassroots development.

The House of Assembly aspirant further prayed for God’s continued protection, sound health, long life and abundant blessings for Olufade, while expressing optimism that the construction would be completed and delivered for public use. He stressed that sustainable development requires leaders to identify the everyday challenges confronting residents and translate their needs into tangible projects that promote economic activities and community wellbeing.

Olasupo’s commendation comes as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections, with grassroots infrastructure and public service delivery expected to feature prominently in political discussions. He maintained that the Ijokodo–Agbaje Road project had strengthened the chairman’s standing among beneficiaries, arguing that visible development initiatives could make political campaigns easier by demonstrating the value of responsive governance. Residents will, however, look forward to the timely completion of the project and the lasting benefits of improved road access across the area.
