Hundreds of supporters from various political parties, pressure groups and political associations on Friday defected to the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) during a colourful reception held at the Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi Campaign Office in Oyo State.
The well-attended event, marked by celebration and fanfare, was led by Hon. Fapetu Stephen and Hon. Adeola Adejumo, who received the decampees and charged them to remain committed to the ideals and vision of the APM ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the gathering, the duo commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his commitment to good governance, equitable distribution of developmental projects and inclusive leadership, which they said has fostered unity and created opportunities for political participation across all zones of Oyo State.
They noted that the governor’s achievements have continued to attract members of other political parties into the APM, describing the influx as a demonstration of growing public confidence in the party’s leadership and agenda.
Hon. Fapetu and Adejumo reaffirmed their commitment to the mobilisation of the Omituntun 3.0 project, describing it as a continuity agenda aimed at sustaining and expanding the developmental strides recorded in the state. They declared their unwavering support for Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, the APM governorship flagbearer, expressing confidence in his capacity to deliver purposeful and people-oriented leadership.
The leaders also pledged to work tirelessly to secure victory for all APM candidates in the forthcoming elections, particularly expressing support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s presidential ambition.
The event witnessed the defection of hundreds of members from different political parties, groups and associates, who pledged their loyalty to the Allied Peoples’ Movement and promised to work collectively to ensure the party’s success at the polls.
