Chairmanship aspirant for Atiba Local Government under the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Hon. Adeniran Joel Adedapo, has intensified consultations ahead of the forthcoming local government elections, as he formally presented his aspiration to party members during the party’s general meeting held in Oyo town.

The meeting was held at L. A Primary School, Saabo Oyo, today (Friday), attracted party leaders, stakeholders, executives, youths, women leaders, and supporters from across the local government area, providing a platform for the aspirant to engage members and seek their support for his bid to lead Atiba Local Government.

Hon. Adeniran received a warm reception from party faithful and supporters who turned out in large numbers to demonstrate solidarity with his aspiration, underscoring what observers described as growing grassroots acceptance of his candidacy within the party.

His appearance at the meeting came days after he held a strategic consultation and declaration meeting with key stakeholders of the Allied Peoples Movement, including local government executives, ward executives, women and youth leaders, and ward secretaries from the ten wards in Atiba Local Government.

Addressing party members, Adeniran expressed appreciation to party leaders and stakeholders for their continued commitment to the growth of the APM and the development of Atiba Local Government.

He specifically acknowledged prominent political figures, including former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly and distinguished Senator Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonu; Oyo Assembly Chief Whip Hon. Gbenga Oyekola; Barrister Seun Ashamu; Hon. Badmus Ismail Olaide; and other political office holders and party functionaries in Atiba Local Government for their contributions to governance and political development.

The aspirant also commended Governor Seyi Makinde for what he described as impactful governance under the Omituntun administration, noting that various infrastructural and developmental projects executed across Oyo State have positively affected the lives of residents.

According to him, the achievements recorded under the Omituntun 1.0 and 2.0 agendas have established a governance template worthy of emulation, while expressing confidence that the state’s developmental strides would be sustained in future political transitions.

Speaking on current developments in the state, Adeniran offered prayers for the safe return of abducted schoolchildren and other victims of recent insecurity challenges, expressing optimism that ongoing efforts by the government and security agencies would yield positive results.

He further highlighted ongoing infrastructural projects across Oyo Federal Constituency, improved welfare for workers through prompt salary payments, and other people-oriented policies as evidence of responsive governance that should be replicated at the grassroots level.

Declaring his ambition before party members, the chairmanship hopeful unveiled his vision for Atiba Local Government, centered on grassroots development, inclusive governance, and enhanced service delivery.

“Today, I stand before you to publicly declare my interest in contesting for the Chairmanship position of Atiba Local Government under the platform of our great party, the Allied Peoples Movement,” he said.

“I am seeking your support, prayers, and cooperation to enable us collectively to build a more prosperous local government. My aspiration is driven by the desire to deepen grassroots development, strengthen community participation in governance, and ensure that government remains closer to the people.”

He assured members that, if elected, his administration would prioritize transparency, unity, youth empowerment, community development, and policies aimed at improving the welfare of residents across the local government area.

Adeniran also appealed for unity among party members, stressing that collective efforts and internal cohesion would be crucial to the party’s success in future elections.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Allied Peoples Movement in Atiba Local Government, Mr. Isiaka Adejare Ayinde, commended the aspirant for his engagement with party members and prayed for God’s guidance concerning his political ambition.

The party chairman disclosed that the state leadership of the party had encouraged stakeholders to support candidates with broad-based acceptance and capacity to deliver electoral victory, adding that the party would continue to uphold fairness and due process in its selection process.

He further urged members to remain active in party affairs by regularly attending ward and general meetings and intensifying grassroots mobilization efforts through house-to-house campaigns and community engagement.

Also speaking, a party leader and stakeholder, Alhaji Quadri Olatunji, praised members for their dedication to strengthening the party’s structure across Atiba Local Government.

He noted that the party had continued to witness increased acceptance at the grassroots level due to the commitment and contributions of its leaders and members.

He urged party members to remain united and committed to the growth of the APM, while also commending supporters of the aspirant for their orderly conduct and impressive turnout at the meeting.
