The 2027 Oyo State Governorship Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Mr. Bimbo Adekanbi, has expressed deep sympathy with residents of Oriire Local Government Area following the May 15 violent attack and abduction of teachers and pupils in Ahoro-Esinele and Yawota communities.
Adekanbi led a high-powered APM delegation, including senatorial candidates and party leaders, on a condolence and solidarity visit to the affected communities. The team visited Ahoro-Esinele, Yawota, and surrounding areas, where they met with grieving parents, traditional leaders, and residents impacted by the tragedy.
Speaking during the visit, Adekanbi described the incident as tragic, senseless, and deeply disturbing, assuring the affected families that they were not alone in their pain.
“We share in your pain and stand with you in this difficult moment,” he said. “I am confident that Governor Seyi Makinde and the security agencies are working tirelessly to ensure the safe rescue of all abducted victims. We will continue to support and amplify your voices until every child and teacher returns home safely.”
He further commended security agencies for their ongoing operations in the area, urging them to intensify efforts to ensure the swift rescue of the victims and restoration of lasting peace in Oriire.
Also speaking during the visit, the APM Oyo South Senatorial Candidate, Hon. Stanley Olajide, appreciated the efforts of security operatives so far and called for sustained commitment until all abducted persons are safely released.
“APM stands firmly with the people of Oriire and the families affected by this unfortunate incident,” Olajide said. “We pray for the safe return of all victims and strength for their families during this painful period.”
Other members of the delegation included APM Oyo North Senatorial Candidate Hon. Shina Peller, Amb. Olufemi Ajadi, Sunday Makanjuola, and former Commissioner for Works, Prof. Abdulrahmon Rapheal Afonja.
