Former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, on Tuesday officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 Oyo State governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at the historic Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, popularly known as Liberty Stadium, Adelabu promised economic transformation, massive job creation, improved security, and inclusive governance for the people of Oyo State.

The declaration event, tagged “Oyo Bayode 2027,” attracted thousands of APC supporters, party leaders, traditional rulers, youths, women groups, and political associates.

Adelabu described the gathering as “a defining moment” and the beginning of a movement to restore, rebuild, reposition, and reclaim Oyo State for genuine progress and people-centered governance.

He stated that governance must go beyond rhetoric and deliver measurable development that impacts every household.

The former minister unveiled his “Oyo Rebirth Agenda,” focused on economic revival, agriculture, education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and governance reforms.

He also pledged to create industrial and agro-processing hubs across the state and launch a “One Million Jobs Initiative” through agriculture, technology, construction, manufacturing, and small businesses.

Adelabu further promised improved education, better healthcare, prompt payment of salaries and pensions, support for entrepreneurs, and welfare programmes for women, children, the elderly, and persons living with disabilities.

Calling for unity within the APC ahead of the 2027 election, Adelabu urged party leaders and stakeholders to work together for victory.

“We will restore progressive governance. We will create jobs. We will protect the vulnerable. Together, we will win in 2027,” he stated.
