Popular Ibadan-based broadcaster and governorship aspirant, Oriyomi Hamzat, has intensified his political consultations ahead of the 2027 Oyo State governorship election, seeking the support and endorsement of prominent traditional figure, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
Hamzat, who is contesting under the platform of the Accord Party, made this move as part of broader efforts to consolidate elite and grassroots backing for his ambition. His visit to Sanusi was described as strategic, aimed at tapping into the influence and counsel of respected national figures as he positions himself for the forthcoming election.
The media entrepreneur, known for his leadership at Agidigbo FM, had earlier declared his intention to run for governor, citing a desire to serve the masses and provide people-oriented governance in Oyo State.
In a related development, a political support group identified as the JDS group within the Accord Party honoured Hamzat with an Award of Excellence. The recognition, according to the group, was in appreciation of his humanitarian efforts, grassroots engagement, and consistent advocacy for the welfare of ordinary citizens.
Members of the group praised Hamzat’s track record as a voice for the downtrodden and expressed confidence in his capacity to deliver transformative leadership if elected. The award presentation also served as a rallying point for supporters, reinforcing internal party solidarity ahead of the 2027 polls.
