Hon. Dawood Olalere D-Al-Ameen, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) lawmaker representing Ibadan NorthWest State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly and aspirant for the Ibadan NorthWest/SouthWest Federal Constituency seat, has warmly welcomed top opposition leaders to Ibadan for the much-anticipated Opposition Summit holding today.
In a statement issued on Saturday, D-Al-Ameen described the gathering as a historic moment for Nigeria’s democracy, noting that the presence of eminent political figures in Oyo State reflects a renewed commitment to unity, national progress, and the strengthening of democratic institutions.
He specifically welcomed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, ADC National Chairman Senator David Mark, National Secretary Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and other notable leaders attending the summit.
According to him, their sacrifices, wealth of experience, and patriotism continue to inspire millions of Nigerians yearning for purposeful leadership and a better future.
D-Al-Ameen said Oyo State remains a peaceful and politically conscious state, adding that Ibadan is honoured to host such an important convergence of opposition figures seeking to chart a new course for the country.
He expressed confidence that the summit would provide a strong platform for constructive dialogue, collaboration, and practical solutions aimed at deepening democracy, promoting good governance, and accelerating national development.
The lawmaker further stated that the gathering offers hope to citizens who desire positive change and a stronger opposition capable of providing credible alternatives in the nation’s political space.
