The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Oyo State Chapter, has warmly welcomed top national opposition figures to Ibadan for what it described as a historic Opposition Summit taking place in the state today.
In a statement issued under the leadership of the party’s Chairman-Elect in Oyo State, Hon. Afees Adelowo Jimoh, the chapter said the gathering reflects a strong commitment to unity, democratic growth, and the collective desire to reposition Nigeria for progress.
The party specifically welcomed former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, National Chairman Senator David Mark, National Secretary Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, former Minister Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, alongside other notable leaders expected at the summit.
According to the statement, the presence of the leaders in Oyo State at a critical time in the nation’s political history offers renewed hope to Nigerians seeking a better future.
“Oyo State remains a land of peace, hospitality, and political consciousness, and we are proud to host this important gathering of opposition leaders,” the statement read.
ADC Oyo added that the summit is expected to provide a robust platform for strategic discussions, stronger collaboration among opposition forces, and practical solutions aimed at sustaining democracy, promoting good governance, and advancing national development.
The chapter further noted that the convergence of experienced political figures would inspire confidence among citizens and strengthen efforts toward building a formidable opposition capable of offering credible alternatives.
On behalf of party members and supporters across the state, Hon. Afees Adelowo Jimoh and the ADC leadership wished the visiting leaders a fruitful deliberation and a pleasant stay in Ibadan.
They also expressed optimism that the summit would mark the beginning of a stronger, more united opposition movement committed to the progress and prosperity of Nigeria.
