Opposition political parties across Nigeria are set to converge in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, tomorrow for a major national summit aimed at forging a united front against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The summit, themed “That We May Work Together for a United Opposition to Sustain Our Democracy,” is expected to bring together leaders, stakeholders, and members of various opposition parties to deliberate on the future of Nigeria and strategies for rescuing the nation from what they described as an anti-people government.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State will serve as the chief host of the event, while former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is billed as Chairman of the Occasion.

According to organisers, the gathering is designed to foster unity among opposition forces and build a common agenda capable of challenging the APC-led Federal Government in future elections.

A source close to the organisers disclosed to 9ja News 24/7 said the time has come for opposition parties to speak with one voice and begin the hard work of restoring hope to Nigerians.

“The major aim of this summit is for all opposition parties to come together and defeat the anti-people government of the APC. Tomorrow, the opposition parties will unite with one voice, and we will kickstart the hard work of ending the APC government,” the source stated.

The summit will also feature keynote addresses from prominent national figures including Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, Dr. Usman Bugaje, Barrister Mike Igini, Prof. Pat Utomi, and Dr. Kabir Adamu, who are expected to speak on democracy, governance, elections, security, and national development.

The event is scheduled to hold at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Ibadan, by 10:00 a.m. on April 25, 2026.

The summit may signal the beginning of a stronger alliance among opposition parties ahead of future national contests.
