On the sidelines of Agrofood Nigeria 2026, The Phenomenal Dr. Debo Akande, DBA, CMGR, FCMI—Executive Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Agribusiness and International Cooperation Development, and Director General of OYSADA—engaged strategic partners from the Dutch government, investor groups, and Delphy to advance the Oyo State Wholesale Market initiative.
The high-level engagement marks a significant transition of the project into its pre-construction study phase, establishing a clear pathway toward potential financing under the Netherlands International Investment Programme. This milestone underscores Oyo State’s commitment to building globally competitive Agribusiness infrastructure through strategic international collaboration.
Delphy, nominated by the Dutch government and working in partnership with Semaris, will provide critical technical expertise for the project. Their scope includes designing the market system structure, integrating efficient cold chain solutions, and strengthening post-harvest management to reduce losses. Additionally, they will facilitate investor linkages to ensure sustainability and scalability.
This initiative reflects a deliberate shift from conceptual infrastructure to a fully functional Agribusiness ecosystem—where production, preservation, logistics, and market access are seamlessly integrated.
Under the leadership of Dr. Akande, Oyo State continues to position itself as a hub for modern Agribusiness, leveraging global partnerships to drive economic growth, food security, and rural prosperity.
