As Muslims across Nigeria and the world mark the end of Ramadan 1447AH, a prominent socio-political support group, Seyi Makinde Disciples (SMD), has called on residents of Oyo State and Nigerians at large to embrace the spirit of love, peace, and unity while offering fervent prayers for Governor Seyi Makinde and the nation.
In a goodwill message released on Friday and jointly signed by the group’s Convener, Prince Laja Adeoye, and its Spokesman, Olusegun C. A. Taiwo (OCAT), the SMD congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the holy month of fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection. The group noted that Ramadan is not only a period of abstinence but also a time for self-discipline, compassion, and renewed commitment to the service of humanity.
The statement urged citizens to sustain the virtues imbibed during Ramadan, particularly tolerance, generosity, and peaceful coexistence. It emphasized that the lessons of the holy month should translate into actions that promote unity and collective progress across communities in Oyo State and beyond.
SMD further called for continuous prayers for Governor Makinde, seeking divine wisdom, strength, and guidance for him in steering the affairs of the state. According to the group, effective leadership remains crucial to achieving sustainable development and improving the welfare of the people.
The group also extended its appeal to Nigerians to pray for the country, stressing the need for national cohesion, stability, and prosperity in the face of socio-economic challenges. It maintained that through collective prayers and shared commitment to nation-building, Nigeria can overcome its present difficulties.
While wishing Muslims a joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration, SMD encouraged everyone to celebrate responsibly and extend acts of kindness to the less privileged, in line with the true essence of the season.
“May this season bring renewed hope, strengthen our bonds as one people, and usher in lasting peace and progress for Oyo State and Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
