
The wife of the Executive Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government, Alhaja Alirat Folasade Adepoju has called on mothers to be more vigilant in monitoring the health and development of their children and to desist from the harmful practice of self-medication.

She gave the charge during her visit to Ayeye Primary Health care center and Koseunti Primary Health Center, where she warmly welcomed the Babies of the Year born on January 1 and 2, 2026 respectively.

Mrs. Adepoju described children as “precious gifts from God” and emphasized the importance of providing them with adequate healthcare for proper growth and development. She noted that early detection of health issues significantly reduces treatment costs and prevents complications, stressing the need for regular medical checkups.

While congratulating the parents of the newborns, the Chairperson urged them to follow all postnatal care instructions as provided by medical professionals.
The Chairperson who was received at the
health centers by the matron and health officials on duty expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr.oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde, and his wife, Engr (Mrs) Taminominini Olufunke Makinde for their continuous support for maternal and child healthcare initiatives in the state.
In the same vein, Alhaja Adepoju appreciated the efforts of the Executive Chairman of Ibadan Northwest LG, Alhaji AbdulRahman Olanrewaju Adepoju, for his dedication to grassroots healthcare delivery.
As part of the new year celebration, Mrs. Adepoju presented gift items and cash donations to the Babies of the Year and congratulated their families.
The mothers of the babies, Mrs Wuraola Oluwaponle and Mrs Omolara Gabriel, appreciated the kind gestures of the Chairperson and prayed to God to bless her abundantly.
The two babies of the year were girls and weighed 2.6kg and 3.5kg respectively.
On the Chairperson’s entourage were the super for women Affairs, wife of the Chief of staff, Local government PDP women leader and officer in charge of women Affairs.
