As part of activities marking the 32nd remembrance of his late father, Pa Philip Umoru Akika, Agba’Akin Ataiyse Oodua Agbaye, Oloye Benedict Akika, on Thursday hosted an interfaith prayer session at Omituntun House, Delight Estate, Lakuru, Idi-Ape, Akobo–Olorunda, Ibadan.
The interfaith gathering brought together Christian and Muslim clerics, family members, community leaders and associates, who offered prayers for the repose of Pa Akika’s soul and reflected on his life of compassion, tolerance and service to humanity.
Speaking at the event to 9ja News 24/7, Oloye Akika, who is also the President of Omituntun Benedict Foundation and Founder of Omituntun Benedict Forum, described the interfaith prayer as a fitting tribute to his father’s belief in peaceful coexistence and unity across religious lines.
He noted that the choice of prayers from different faiths symbolised the enduring values of love, harmony and mutual respect which Pa Philip Umoru Akika upheld during his lifetime.
The prayer session concluded with a renewed call for unity, tolerance and service to humanity, values the host said would continue to guide his personal journey and humanitarian engagements.
