
The GSMists, a prominent political support group in Ibadan North Local Government, have extended warm congratulations to Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, popularly known as Hon. DON, following his emergence as the official candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the forthcoming House of Representatives bye-election in Ibadan North Federal Constituency.
In an official statement signed by the group’s Public Relations Officer, Hon. Yisah Muhammed Bright, on behalf of the Coordinator, Hon. Gbadamosi Hamed Babatunde, the GSMists hailed Hon. DON’s candidacy as a reflection of unity, strategic leadership, and consensus-building within the PDP and the Oyo State political landscape.
The group applauded the peaceful outcome of a consultative process involving eight aspirants and led by Governor Seyi Makinde, describing the resolution as a “testament to the spirit of unity, love, and progressive leadership” driving the OmiTuntun 2.0 agenda under the governor’s stewardship.
“We heartily congratulate Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (Hon. DON) on his emergence as the PDP candidate for the August 16, 2025, bye-election. His candidacy is a result of wide consultations and consensus championed by His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, reflecting the deep sense of love and cooperation that defines the political culture of Ibadan North,” the statement read.
The GSMists also praised the conduct of the other aspirants, noting their maturity and loyalty to the party. The group emphasized that assurances of inclusivity and relevance within the OmiTuntun 2.0 administration have further strengthened internal cohesion within the PDP.
Calling for unity ahead of the August 16 election, the GSMists urged party leaders, stakeholders, members, and supporters across Ibadan North and beyond to rally behind Hon. DON to ensure a landslide victory at the polls.
“As we march forward with OmiTuntun 2.0, we call on everyone to unite behind Hon. DON and work towards delivering a decisive victory that will sustain the vision of good governance under Governor Makinde,” the statement added.
The group concluded with a reaffirmation of its commitment to the PDP’s electoral success, declaring: “FolaSeyi2025 is sacrosanct!”
