
The Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Oyo State Chapter, Ambassador Abdulsalam Abdulquadri Olusegun, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who died on July 7, 2025, at the age of 90.
In an official condolence message addressed to the Olubadan-in-Council, the Oyo State Government, and the people of Ibadanland, Amb. Abdulsalam described the monarch’s death as the end of a remarkable era in the history of Ibadan.
“Oba Olakulehin’s reign was characterized by his unwavering commitment to unity, peace, and community development. His contributions to the cultural and traditional heritage of Ibadanland will remain etched in our collective memory,” the statement read.
The youth leader offered prayers for the repose of the late monarch’s soul and extended solidarity to the royal family, the people of Ibadan, and the Oyo State Government.
“As we mourn the loss of this great leader, we pray for strength and divine guidance for all who are grieving this monumental loss,” he added.
Oba Owolabi Olakulehin ascended the throne as the Olubadan of Ibadanland and was widely respected for his wisdom, leadership, and dedication to the progress of the ancient city.
