FOSSU National Electioneering Suspended as Zonal Leaders and Senate Set for Reconciliation………………

In a significant development within the Federation of Oyo State Students Union (FOSSU), all ongoing national electioneering processes have been officially put on hold, and the previously inaugurated electoral committee has been dissolved until further notice.

This decision follows a petition submitted to the Department of State Services (DSS) by NAOOS National President (Oke-Ogun), Senator Ààre (Amb) ISHAK Yusuf Oyetunji (Sagacity), and Senator Ààre Abdqudus Opeyemi Taiwo, NAOS National President (Oyo), concerning events that transpired during the FOSSU National Senate sitting held on June 14, 2025, at the Ibarapa East Local Government Secretariat, Eruwa.

The petition led to the invitation of the affected Zonal Presidents and members of the FOSSU National Senate leadership to the DSS headquarters, in Ibadan on June 19, 2025. After thorough engagement and interrogation, both parties signed undertakings to commit to peaceful dialogue and internal resolution of conflicts.
Key resolutions from the meeting include:
- Dissolution of the electoral committee until further notice.
- Suspension of all electioneering and related activities pending peaceful resolution.
- A ban on any member of the dissolved committee parading themselves in any official capacity.
- A call for all concerned stakeholders and leaders to convene for timely reconciliation.
The National President of NAOOS, emphasized the union’s commitment to unity, peace, and purposeful leadership.
“This development is a reflection our collective willingness to restore order and harmony within the union,” he stated. “We are committed to working together to strengthen FOSSU and protect the values that bind us.”
A reconciliation meeting among zonal and national leaders is expected to hold soon, marking the next step toward a peaceful and united path forward for FOSSU.
