Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire, founder of the Bibire Peoples Vision Association, has extended condolences to the Governor of Oyo State- Engr Seyi Makinde, the residents of Ibadan, and the family of the late 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, who sadly departed on Thursday at the age of 82.
Fagbenro, in a condolence message made available to Polity Reporters today, Friday, explained that the passing of Oba Mohood Balogun is a great loss not only to the people of Ibadan and the traditional establishment in Oyo State but to the entire federation, stressing that despite the brevity of the late ruler’s tenure, his contributions would be remembered in the annals of history.
The PDP Chieftain however encouraged the family, friends, associates of the deceased, and the entire Ibadan people, whose welfare and concerns the late monarch championed tirelessly throughout his life, to find comfort in the knowledge that he lived a fulfilling and meaningful life.
His words:
“I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, as well as to the residents of the historic city of Ibadan, the family, friends, and associates of the late 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Moshood Olalekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, who passed away yesterday, Thursday at the UCH, joining his ancestors.
“The passing of Oba Moshood Balogun is a profound loss not only for the people of Ibadan and its traditional establishment but also for the entire nation. He will be greatly missed, leaving behind a void felt across the federation.
“Whether as a philanthropist, senator, or later as a traditional ruler, his impact was profound and meaningful as throughout his lifetime, Oba Moshood Balogun made significant positive contributions to the growth and development of Ibadan, Oyo State, and Nigeria as a whole.
“To be honest, it’s undeniable that he left behind a legacy that the people of Ibadanland will hold dear for generations to come.
“As the entire world grieves his passing, I pray that the Almighty will grant his soul a sweet repose, and that the royal family and the people of Ibadan find the strength to endure this profound and irreplaceable loss.”
