The Oyo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), on Tuesday, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Rep. Abass Adigun, also known as Agboworin, who represents the Ibadan South East/North East federal constituency in the House of Representatives.
The Party Secretary, Hon. Wasiu Adeleke, made this pledge while delivering his goodwill remark at an empowerment programme organized by the lawmaker for people living with disabilities in his constituency, which held at the Local Government House, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
Adeleke commended Agboworin for his consistent support for the party and his unending laudable empowerments, demonstrating his dedication to the welfare of his constituents.
He noted that the party and the state in general is proud of the lawmaker, urging him not to relent in his good deeds.
In his words: “I am already overwhelmed by what people have said about Rep Agboworin today in this event. There is no doubt that Agboworin has been a loyal and dedicated member of our party, and we are proud of his achievements.
“He is doing well for the party and in his constituency. Apart from programmes that have to do with the state, I rarely attend other programmes but I am attending this because it is Agboworin’s event. I will urge him to continue to do well and not relent.
“I just pray that God should continue to be with him. He is an example of who we can call ‘a true party man’. Having said that, I want to reassure him that the party will continue to support him. We also want the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) to also continue to support Agboworin.”
Agboworin, who spoke at the event, said the empowerment programme was part of his efforts to improve the lives of his constituents.
“I am committed to ensuring that my constituents have access to the resources they need to thrive because that is the promise I made to them. I will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our constituency is developed and that our people are empowered.
“They are part of the society which you and I belong to and they need to survive too. Though they are more than this but we will continue to reach out to the rest because the available resources for now can only serve those who are here alone.
“I want to assure that, going forward, I will include them in the next year budget so that we can have more of them benefitting from this programme,” Agboworin stated.
The empowerment initiative was widely commended by the beneficiaries and other stakeholders, who praised Agboworin for his commitment to the welfare of his constituents.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including Hon. Dare Adeleke, PDP Caretaker Chairman, Ekiti State; Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, Chairman, Ibadan North Local Government; Hon. Adebanjo “Bigger,” Vice Chairman, PDP Ibadan Southeast; Hon. Isiaka Fatokun, PDP Chairman, Ibadan Northeast; Hon. Kehinde Akande, Chairman, Ibadan Southwest Local Government.
