The Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Oyo State Chapter, Amb. Abdulquadri Abdulsalam, who also doubles as the Chairman of the NYCN Chairmen Forum, has once again demonstrated exemplary leadership by leading a robust delegation of Oyo State contingents to the organization’s 60th Anniversary celebration in Port Harcourt.
The historic event grand finale, held on Saturday 7th December at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Porthaccourt which brought together youth leaders, stakeholders, and dignitaries from across the country, was graced by the presence of the Vice President of Nigeria, who was ably represented, and the Governor of Rivers State, Hon. Minister for Youth Development, among other dignitaries. Amb. Abdulsalam commended their attendance, highlighting their support for the advancement of Nigerian youths.
In his keynote address as the Chairman of all Chairmen, Amb. Abdulsalam lauded the leadership charisma of Amb. Sukubo Sara Igbe Sukubo, the President of the NYCN, and the council’s leadership team for their dedication and commitment to youth development. He emphasized the pivotal role the NYCN has played in empowering Nigerian youths and called for strengthened collaboration among state chapters to tackle pressing challenges such as unemployment and digital literacy.
Amb. Abdulsalam also recognized the active participation of notable Oyo State stakeholders, including the Immediate Past Chairman of NYCN Oyo State, Amb. Adebobola Agbeja, who served as a Planning Sub-Committee Member on Contacts and Mobilization, and Comrade Abdurrasheed Animasaun, who contributed as a Committee Member on Venue and Protocols. Their involvement showcased the commitment and resourcefulness of Oyo State in driving the success of the council’s landmark event.
The 60th Anniversary celebration served as a platform for reflection on the council’s journey, discussions on its future, and networking among stakeholders. The contributions of the Oyo State delegation under the leadership of Amb. Abdulsalam were widely applauded, reaffirming the state’s role as a key player in youth empowerment initiatives.
