Today marks the 55th birthday of one of Nigeria’s most impactful lawmakers and Oyo State grassroots champions, Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin, a name synonymous with people-centered leadership, youth empowerment, and visionary representation.
From his emergence in 2019 as the Member representing Ibadan SouthEast/NorthEast Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Agboworin has consistently distinguished himself through uncommon performance, unmatched dedication, and an unwavering commitment to the people irrespective of party, class, or creed.
During his first term in office, Hon. Agboworin served as Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Air Force. In that capacity, he achieved what many considered impossible facilitating the establishment of an Air Force Base in Ibadan, a monumental development with far-reaching economic and security benefits for the region and the state at large.
He didn’t stop there. His tenure saw the creation of numerous employment opportunities for youths, as well as a series of empowerment programmes that touched hundreds of lives. From vocational support schemes to financial grants, Hon. Agboworin left no stone unturned in ensuring his people had tools for self-reliance.
Now in his second term, Hon. Agboworin serves as the Chairman, House Committee on Drugs & Narcotics, a role he has used to push national conversations on drug abuse, rehabilitation, and youth mental health. His drug awareness advocacy programmes have reached schools, communities, and media platforms across Oyo State and beyond.
Back home in Ibadan SouthEast/NorthEast, empowerment remains a cornerstone of his leadership. From equipment distribution to skill acquisition support, he continues to build a bridge between promise and prosperity for his constituents.
The most remarkable quality of Hon. Abass Agboworin is his genuine concern for young people, not just in his constituency but across Oyo State. His acts of kindness often extended to people outside his political jurisdiction and without political expectation have earned him widespread admiration.
Whether it is offering scholarships, securing job placements, or quietly supporting struggling families, Agboworin does it all with all humility.
Whereas Agboworin’s loyalty to the Leader of People Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde and the party is laudable and a model for us coming forth.
At 55, Agboworin stands as a beacon of hope, an example of selfless service, and a symbol of what true representation should look like. I celebrate this milestone with much gratitude for a man whose life continues to touch many.
