
A prominent socio-political support group, Seyi Makinde Disciples (SMD), has joined millions of well-wishers across Nigeria and beyond to felicitate His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Senator) Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, on his official coronation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
In a goodwill message released and jointly signed by the group’s Convener, Laja Adeoye, and its Spokesman, Olusegun C.A. Taiwo (OCAT), SMD commended Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, for upholding the sanctity of Ibadan’s revered chieftaincy tradition through the presentation of the staff and instruments of office to Oba Ladoja at the historic Mapo Hall Arcade, Ibadan.
The statement described Governor Makinde as a true custodian of culture and an exemplary leader whose unwavering respect for Ibadan’s traditional institution has further cemented peace and unity in the state. It added that Oba Ladoja’s ascension to the throne at such a significant moment in history will usher in prosperity, progress, and renewed greatness for Ibadanland.
“We, the Seyi Makinde Disciples, celebrate our leader, His Excellency Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, for his courage, vision, and consistency in protecting Ibadan’s cultural heritage. His role in ensuring a smooth coronation process is worthy of commendation,” the statement read. “We also felicitate with our new Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, whose reign we believe will bring enduring peace, unity, and development to Ibadanland and Oyo State as a whole.”
The group further called on all indigenes and residents of Ibadan to rally around the new monarch and the state government to sustain the legacy of unity, progress, and inclusivity for which the ancient city is renowned.
