
Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology, Eleyele, Ibadan, has made another remarkable stride with the formal inauguration of its Red Cross Society Detachment.
The Provost of the College, Pharmacist Oluyemisi Oyewo, was also decorated as the Patron, while the Registrar was honoured as the Deputy Patron. The Head of the Department of Community Health was equally appointed as the Staff Adviser for the College Red Cross Detachment.
Speaking at the epoch-making event held in the College Hall, the Provost, Pharmacist Mrs. Oluyemisi Oyewo, expressed her delight over the inauguration, describing it as a worthwhile milestone for humanitarian services within and outside the College premises.
She stated that the College Management would continue to support the College’s Red Cross Detachment to ensure optimal performance.
The OYSCOHEST boss appreciated the officials of the Oyo State branch of the society and the Ibadan North-West detachment for deeming it fit to officially inaugurate a Red Cross Detachment in the College. She charged the crossers of the College to uphold the principles and tenets of the Red Cross, advising other students to join in the overall interest of the institution and humanity.
In her brief remarks, the newly decorated Deputy Patron and Registrar of the Institution, Mrs. Dupe Ayoola, congratulated the members of the Society and promised to support them for efficiency and meaningful impact.
Earlier in his inaugural speech, the Secretary of the Oyo State Branch of the Society, who is also the Coordinator of the Ibadan North West Detachment, Mr. Ojo Olaleye, called on the members to discharge their duties wholeheartedly, also encouraging other students to join. He commended the College Management for keeping the flag of the institution flying high. The Red Cross boss congratulated the Patron and Provost, Pharm. Mrs. Oluyemisi Oyewo, the Deputy Patron and Registrar, Mrs. Dupe Ayoola, and the new Detachment Staff Adviser, Mrs.Temitope Awotunde, over their decorations, noting with delight that the College is making another positive mark in humanitarian service.
The OYSCOHEST Detachment Commandant, Christianah Awoyemi, expressed her joy over the inauguration and thanked the College management for creating an enabling environment for the Red Cross Society to thrive. She promised to do her best to uplift the Red Cross in the College.
Highlights of the event included the taking of the Oath by members of the OYSCOHEST Red Cross Detachment, distribution of certificates, presentation of awards to the newly decorated patron, deputy patron and staff adviser, as well as the presentation of the Red Cross flag and operational documents to the College Provost, and an inaugural parade by the Detachment members.
The event was witnessed by the Principal Officers of the College, Management, staff, and students.
In another development, the Entrance Examinations for the second batch of applicants for the 2025/2026 academic session has taken place at the College’s CBT Centre, where applicants were tested in Basic Science Subjects, English and Current Affairs. Oral interviews were also conducted as well as screening of the applicants’ credentials.
The Entrance Examination is aimed at standardizing the admission process for new students into the 92-year-old College, which was established in 1933 to train middle-level healthcare workers.
In an interview, the Admission Officer of the College directed interested candidates to apply online or visit the College ICT Centre to purchase the application form for the next round of entrance examinations, which will be announced soon via the College portal: www.oyschst.edu.ng.
JAMB UTME candidates interested in applying to the College are also advised to visit the JAMB office to change their first choice of institution to the Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology, Eleyele, Ibadan in order to be qualified for the post- UTME (date to be announced soon).

ND, Health Information Management;
ND, Nutrition and Dietetics; and
ND, Environmental Health Technology.
