Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire, a philanthropist and founder of Bibire People’s Vision Association (BPVA) and Hope Also Needs Help Foundation (HANHF) has been honoured with a Merit Award by the reputed Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association (GCIOBA).
He received the coveted award today, Saturday, at a well-attended and colourful annual reunion of the Old Boys, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the 1984 set (Bibire’s Set), held inside the prestigious college.
According to the Alumni Body, the award was in recognition of his “professional achievement in his chosen career,” adding that his “commitment and contributions serve as an inspiration to others and exemplify the high standards of his profession.”
It was gathered that the Merit Award is given to an Old Boy who has not only distinguished himself in his career but also made invaluable contributions to the development of the Association, the College, and Nigeria at large.
While reading his rich and inspiring citation, the association described the recipient as a worthy ambassador of the alma mater, deserving of the award bestowed on him, and thanked him for his constant leadership roles and sacrifices.
The retired U.S. Navy veteran, who faithfully served the United States and defended its democracy, expressed his gratitude, stating that the Merit Award only reinforces his never-wavered commitment to using his hard-earned resources for the advancement of education globally, the benefit of humanity, and the glory of God.
