The Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Oyo State Chapter, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin (Ige Olakulehin I), the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
In a condolence message signed by the Speaker of the Assembly, Davies Oluwaseun Babalola, the group described the late monarch as a symbol of wisdom, dignity, and unity, whose reign significantly contributed to the progress of Ibadanland and the Yoruba nation.
“Oba Owolabi Olakulehin was not only a revered traditional ruler but also a custodian of our rich cultural heritage,” the statement read. “His leadership brought pride and honour to Ibadan, and his legacy in peacebuilding, development, and cultural preservation will endure for generations.”
The Youth Assembly extended its heartfelt condolences to the Olubadan-in-Council, the royal family, the government and people of Ibadanland and Oyo State, and all sons and daughters of the ancient city.
“May the Almighty grant His Imperial Majesty eternal rest and comfort all who mourn this great loss,” Babalola added.
The late Olubadan’s passing marks the end of an era deeply rooted in tradition and service to the people. His memory and legacy, the Assembly noted, will continue to inspire the younger generation.
