The attention of Penkelemesi Return 2027, a committed and principled group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been drawn to a report published on Today Splash titled: “Ibadan North APC Primaries: Undue Influence from Minister of Power, Acting National Party Chairman Poses Great Risk to Party Chances; Need for Tinubu’s Intervention.”
We find it necessary to set the record straight and debunk the unfounded insinuations that the Honourable Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu (Penkelemesi), interfered or influenced the outcome of the recently concluded APC primary election for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election.
At every stage of the process, Chief Adelabu openly declared that he had no preferred candidate, and in his interactions with all aspirants, stakeholders, and party leaders, he reaffirmed his commitment to the democratic ideals of the APC. He emphasized that he would support any candidate that emerged through a credible and transparent process overseen by the party’s official machinery.
The attempt to drag his name into a narrative of manipulation is misleading, divisive, and unhelpful to the unity and progress of our party. Chief Adelabu remains a respected figure within the progressive family and has consistently demonstrated maturity, neutrality, and loyalty to the supremacy of the party.
We therefore congratulate the winner of the primary election, Hon. Murphy Adewale, and urged all party faithful to rally behind him to ensure total victory for the APC in the forthcoming bye-election.
We also reaffirm our confidence in the leadership of Chief Adelabu and commend his unwavering commitment to the growth of the party and the progress of Oyo State.
Signed:
