
All winners of the councillorship elections under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan NorthWest Local Government Area of Oyo State have been presented with Certificates of Return by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC).

It recalled that all Chairmen-elect received their Certificates of Return last Friday, while all 351 Councillors-elect received their certificates today.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of the Commission, represented by Ibadan NorthWest Local Government Electoral Officer, Bukhari Ayinde, congratulated all the Councillors-elect for their victory. He urged them to view the election as an opportunity to serve the people and champion their cause, emphasizing that the Councilors-elect must “be seen as servants of all, regardless of political affiliations or differences.”

“Use this position to justify the trust reposed in you by the masses. This is just the beginning of your success; your performance will take you to the next stage of your political journey. We have returning councillors among you, which is a testament to their performance, loyalty, and top-notch grassroots governance.”
He further noted that the Commission demonstrated its commitment by providing a level playing field for all political parties participating in the council election.
He said OYSIEC ensured that people’s votes counted and added that the Commission would continue to conduct free, fair, and credible elections at the local government level of the state.
In his speech, the Executive Chairman of the local government, Hon. Rahman Adepoju, appreciated the electoral officers, assistant electoral officers, and ad-hoc staff for their hard work in ensuring free, fair, and credible elections.
He also thanked the party leaders, stakeholders, and faithful members for their presence at the Councillors-elect’s Certificate of Return ceremony, while assuring the gathering that progressive work would commence in Ibadan NorthWest immediately after their swearing-in ceremony.
Adepoju urged the residents to be patient, hopeful, and prayerful for their success.
The highlights of the event included the presentation of Certificates of Return by the Electoral Officer, Bukhari Tirimisiyu Ayinde.
The recipients of the Councillorship Certificates of Return were: Hon Folashade Odus (Ward 1), Hon Wale James (Ward 2), Hon Asiwaju Ganiyu (Ward 3), Hon Owolabi Adebisi (Ward 4), Ward 5 – Hon Wasiu Alabi (Ward 5), Hon Adesina Muhydeen (Ward 6), Hon Ridwan Ogun (Ward 7), Hon Saheed Ayuba (Ward 8), Hon Gbadamosi Leke (Ward 9), Hon Esho Taiwo {Romario} (Ward 10), Hon Sarah Odusanya (Ward 11) respectively.
