Prince Laja Adeoye MPD, the Lagos State governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), has called on Nigerians, particularly Lagos residents, to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participate in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 general elections. The appeal follows the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) announcement that nationwide PVC collection would commence on Friday, October 9, 2026. Adeoye described the exercise as a critical opportunity for citizens to prepare to elect leaders who understand their challenges and are committed to delivering people-oriented governance.

Adeoye, whose Àtúntò Èkó 1.0 — RESET Lagos Agenda is built around re-engineering Lagos for inclusive prosperity, emphasised that meaningful political change must begin with active citizen participation. The agenda outlines proposals addressing electricity supply, flood control, affordable housing, transportation infrastructure, employment generation, education, healthcare, security and economic empowerment. According to the campaign organisation, collecting PVCs is an essential step for Lagosians who desire accountable leadership, improved public services and a development model that places the welfare of residents at the centre of government policy.

The campaign organisation also identified a connection between Adeoye’s RESET Lagos vision and Governor Seyi Makinde’s RESET Nigeria agenda, which is being advanced through the APM presidential campaign with a focus on listening to citizens and incorporating their concerns into national policy. Both initiatives present a case for people-centred governance, institutional accountability, economic opportunities and inclusive development. LACO maintained that citizens must exercise their electoral rights to ensure that their aspirations are reflected in the leadership and policies that shape their communities, state and country.

In a statement, the Senior Special Assistant on Digital Media Communication to Laja Adeoye Campaign Organisation, Olusegun Taiwo, urged eligible voters to take advantage of the PVC collection exercise by visiting the designated INEC collection centres at their respective Local Government offices and Registration Area centres. He also encouraged registered voters to verify their personal details and seek clarification from INEC officials where necessary. Olusegun stressed that democracy becomes stronger when citizens participate peacefully, make informed choices and hold elected officials accountable. He added that the RESET Lagos and RESET Nigeria visions could only achieve their intended impact through sustained public participation and a collective commitment to a better future.

Concluding his message, Prince Laja Adeoye extended Jummah greetings to Muslim faithful across Lagos State and Nigeria, praying that Almighty Allah would accept their prayers, grant peace to their homes and bless the nation with unity, justice and prosperity. He urged Nigerians to use the spiritually significant day to reflect on their responsibilities to one another and to the country, while wishing Muslim faithful a peaceful and blessed Jummah. The APM governorship candidate reiterated his call for eligible voters to collect their PVCs, participate in the forthcoming elections and join the movement for a new Lagos built on inclusive prosperity, accountable leadership and opportunities for all.
