The popular PDP leader in the Ibadan Southwest and Northwest Federal Constituency of Oyo State, Hon. Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire, has congratulated Muslims worldwide on the culmination of this year’s Ramadan fasting and the joyful celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, urging Muslims to seize this auspicious occasion to contemplate the timeless values of love, tolerance, and compassion epitomized by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), which are crucial for maintaining the peaceful coexistence currently experienced in the country.

Bibire, who issued the statement today, Wednesday, in his goodwill message to Muslims celebrating Eid-el-Fitr, as made available to Polity Reporters, explained that “the Prophet became renowned for his life of humility, characterized by acts of love, and tolerance, which enabled him to peacefully coexist with everyone.”

He further encouraged Muslim clerics to place enough emphasis on love and tolerance in their teachings as essential elements for peaceful coexistence, adding that the Eid-el-Fitr celebration should serve as a moment for introspection, reminding Muslims to act as exemplary ambassadors of Islam.

Buttressing, the former US Navy Veteran said that being a Muslim is not solely about identification, “one must also refrain from actions that could tarnish the image of Islam, and conduct oneself in a manner that is respectful, acceptable and considerate towards fellow human beings.”

Stressing the importance of peaceful living between Muslims and Christians, Bibire encouraged all Nigerians, irrespective of their religious, cultural, or ethnic backgrounds, to promote tolerance and coexist harmoniously.

“The central essence of religion everywhere revolves around love, peaceful coexistence, and promotion of fellowship among individuals of diverse faiths,” he reiterated.

While urging the affluent individuals to show compassion and extend generosity towards the less privileged in the society, Bibire equally advocated for forgiveness among everyone which he said aligns with the ethos of Eid-el-Fitr.

He, however, urged Muslims to use this very occasion to pray for the progress and development of the state and country, offering prayers for Engr. Seyi Makinde and President Tinubu as they continue their endeavours to lead the state and country in the right direction.

Bibire concluded with a fervent prayer, praying Allah to accept their worship as acts of ibadah, and to grant them the blessing of witnessing many more joyous celebrations in good health.
