The Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed deep sorrow and concern over the reported abduction of pupils, teachers, and community members in Oriire Local Government Area of the state, describing the incident as a painful tragedy that has cast a shadow over the Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.
In a statement issued by the State Chairman, Dayo Ogungbenro, the party noted that while Eid-ul-Adha is a season of sacrifice, compassion, and faith, the joy of the period has been tempered by the distressing situation in Oriire, where families are currently пережieving uncertainty and emotional distress over the safety of their loved ones.
The PDP extended solidarity to affected families, stating that it stands with them in prayers and empathy during what it described as a deeply traumatic moment. The party acknowledged the emotional toll on parents and guardians awaiting news of their children and prayed for divine intervention for their safe return.
The statement also reaffirmed confidence in the efforts of the Oyo State Government, led by Seyi Makinde, assuring residents that ongoing security operations are aimed at ensuring the safe rescue of the abducted victims and strengthening protection across communities in the state.
The party called on religious leaders, Muslim faithful, and all residents of goodwill to dedicate Eid prayers to the swift and safe return of the victims, as well as lasting peace and security in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
It concluded with a prayer for comfort to grieving families, divine strength for the state, and protection over all communities, wishing Muslims a peaceful Eid-ul-Adha celebration despite the prevailing challenges.
