The Executive Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government, Alh Abdulrahman Olanrewaju Adepoju, has directed security operatives within the council area to take immediate and decisive action in addressing the persistent traffic congestion at the Eleyele/Ologuneru axis.
The Chairman gave this directive during the Peace and Security Meeting held at the Council Secretariat, Onireke.
The Council Boss expressed concern over the recurring traffic challenges caused largely by the activities of commercial motorcyclists in the area, noting that the situation has continued to hinder the free flow of vehicles and endanger commuters.
He therefore charged all relevant security agencies operating within the Eleyele jurisdiction to intensify efforts in restoring order and preventing any unforeseen incidents that may arise from the situation.
The Executive Chairman commended the security operatives for their commitment and steadfastness in maintaining a relatively peaceful and conducive environment across the Local Government, urging them to sustain the momentum.
Addressing the recent emergence of hoodlums in parts of the council area, particularly in Idikan and Adamasingba areas, the Chairman directed that urgent measures be taken to dislodge and evacuate such elements before they constitute a threat to public peace and safety within the Local Government and the state at large.
In their separate remarks, the security operatives appreciated the Executive Chairman for his continuous support and for fostering a conducive working environment. They noted that the cordial relationship between the Local Government leadership and security agencies has significantly enhanced their operational efficiency.
Meanwhile, the security agencies called on Community Development Committee (CDC) members and religious leaders to collaborate with them by providing timely and useful information on suspicious movements or unfamiliar faces within their communities. They emphasized that the security of lives and property is a collective responsibility that requires the cooperation of all stakeholders.
The meeting was attended by the Vice Chairman/Political Head of Okebadan North LCDA, the Secretary to the Local Government, Chief of Staff, Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA), Acting HLGA of Okebadan LCDA, Director of Administration and General services, Deputy Director of Administration and representatives of various security agencies including the Nigeria Police Force (DPO), NSCDC, NDLEA, DSS, FRSC, Immigration Service, CAN and CDC.
