An aspirant for the House of Representatives for Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West Federal Constituency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mayegun Sunday Olusegun Babanumi, has expressed strong confidence that the people of Oyo State will continue to stand solidly behind the administration of Seyi Makinde despite recent political realignments and cross-carpeting in the state.
In a statement released in Ibadan, Babanumi noted that the electorate in Oyo State are politically conscious and fully aware of the developmental strides recorded under the leadership of Governor Makinde, stressing that no amount of political propaganda can erase the visible achievements of the present administration.
“Oyo State electorates know their true political leaders,” Babanumi stated. “They recognize and appreciate the remarkable contributions of Governor Seyi Makinde and the PDP towards the socio-economic transformation of the state. The infrastructural renewal, improved governance, and people-centered policies introduced by this administration have touched lives across all zones of the state.”
The PDP hopeful further emphasized that Governor Makinde’s leadership has brought a new era of transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance to Oyo State. According to him, the administration has recorded significant milestones in several sectors including road infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and security.
He highlighted some notable achievements of the Makinde administration to include the reconstruction and rehabilitation of major roads across the state, the upgrade of several healthcare facilities and primary health centers, prompt payment of salaries and pensions to workers and retirees, as well as massive investments in education through the renovation of public schools and recruitment of teachers.
Babanumi also commended the governor’s commitment to economic growth and rural development, citing initiatives that have boosted agriculture, empowered youths and women, and improved security architecture across Oyo State.
“Governor Makinde has demonstrated uncommon leadership through his people-oriented policies. From the revitalization of the agribusiness sector through the Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub, to the improvement of road networks linking rural communities to urban markets, the administration has consistently shown dedication to sustainable development,” he added.
He further praised the governor for promoting peace and stability within the state while ensuring that governance remains focused on the welfare of the people rather than political distractions.
Babanumi therefore urged the people of Oyo State to remain steadfast and continue supporting the PDP and the Makinde-led administration, noting that the progress recorded so far must be sustained.
“I encourage our people across all local governments and wards to remain vigilant and identify leaders who are sincere, committed, and genuinely passionate about the progress of our dear state. True leadership is defined by service, integrity, and loyalty to the people not by opportunistic political movements.”
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the ideals of the PDP and the development agenda championed by Governor Makinde, assuring constituents of his readiness to provide quality representation at the National Assembly if given the opportunity.
