Alhaji Dr Oriyomi Hamzat, renowned broadcaster and the voice behind the popular grassroots slogan “Oyo n Pe o,” has formally ended his political neutrality by joining the Accord Party, signalling his intention to contest the Oyo State governorship election in 2027.

The declaration was made at the Liberty Stadium in Ibadan, before a large gathering of supporters. Hamzat described the “Oyo n Pe o” movement as a people-centred initiative, emphasising that it was never created to promote the political ambition of any individual.

“I am announcing today that I will contest the Oyo State governorship under the banner of the Accord Party,” Hamzat said. “This decision is motivated by my commitment to serve our people, not by wealth or the backing of political godfathers. My drive comes from the support of ordinary citizens who share the vision for a better Oyo.”

He also called on his supporters to remain peaceful, avoid violence, and safeguard their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), underscoring that meaningful change must be achieved through legal and democratic channels.
