The political atmosphere within the Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was electrifying as Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election. The declaration, held amid a massive turnout of party faithful, was marked by enthusiasm, solidarity, and a strong show of internal unity.
The event recorded full party representation, with all thirty-nine (39) state executives and thirty-three (33) local government chairmen in attendance. Leaders, youth groups, and supporters from across the state converged to lend their support, underscoring the significance of Ajadi’s entry into the governorship race.
In his address, Ambassador Ajadi Oguntoyinbo reaffirmed his commitment to building on the achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde. He outlined a vision centered on good governance, economic growth, strengthened institutions, and inclusive development for the people of Oyo State.
“My mission is simple: to ensure the people of Oyo State remain happy, empowered, and prosperous. We will consolidate on the progress achieved and take our state to new heights,” he stated.
Speaking on behalf of the party, the PDP State Chairman, Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro, commended Ajadi for his boldness and passion for public service, describing his declaration as a welcome development in the state’s political landscape. Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, also encouraged other capable aspirants to step forward, noting that healthy competition deepens internal democracy and strengthens the party.
The state executives assured that the PDP remains committed to a transparent, fair, and inclusive selection process ahead of the party primaries. They emphasized that unity remains the bedrock of the party’s strength as the 2027 elections approach.
The declaration ceremony ended with songs, prayers, and wide celebration as supporters expressed optimism about what they called a new chapter in the political journey of Ambassador Ajadi Oguntoyinbo. With his formal entry into the race, the stage is set for a vibrant and competitive political season in the Oyo PDP.

His gubernatorial declaration follows that of Oloye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke FCA among others still nursing intentions.
