The Solutions 2027 Campaign Council has condemned the reported clash between supporters of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and the Accord Party at Molete yesterday, describing it as unfortunate, needless and unacceptable in a democratic society.

Reports indicate that the incident left several innocent persons injured and properties destroyed, with both parties reportedly trading blame over the confrontation.

In a statement issued on behalf of the Council, its Director-General, Adetayo Kesa, Esq., expressed deep concern over the development, stressing that no political ambition is worth the blood, pain or loss of property of innocent citizens.

Kesa urged the leadership and supporters of the involved parties to exercise restraint, avoid inflammatory statements and retaliatory actions, and allow security agencies to thoroughly investigate and establish the facts surrounding the incident.

“Political parties must place the interest and welfare of the people above personal ambition and partisan considerations. Elections should be a contest of ideas, policies and competence, not violence, intimidation or destruction. Political opponents are not enemies,” the statement read.

The Solutions 2027 Campaign Council reaffirmed its commitment to peace, unity, responsible leadership and the protection of lives and property as cardinal principles of its political engagement ahead of the February 2027 gubernatorial election.

It noted that Oyo State at this critical time needs a leadership ethos that unites rather than divides, prioritises public welfare, and promotes peaceful coexistence irrespective of political affiliation and values which the Council and its principal, Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial candidate, firmly stand for.

The Council further called on all political parties, security agencies, community leaders, and youth organisations to collaborate to prevent further violence and ensure that political activities across the state remain peaceful, lawful and issue-based.

It also urged supporters of the ADC and the general public to remain law-abiding, respect political differences and reject every form of political violence.

“The people deserve leadership that puts them first. We must collectively reject violence and embrace a political culture where dialogue prevails over confrontation and the public interest comes before personal ambition,” the statement concluded.
