Twelve candidates contesting the 2027 Oyo State governorship election are expected to participate in the Independence Day Edition of the Public Square Town Hall Meeting, scheduled for Thursday, October 1, 2026, in Ibadan. The programme, organised by Success FM Ibadan, will hold at the Otunba Subomi Balogun Conference Centre, UI Hotels, University of Ibadan, providing a platform for direct interaction between governorship candidates and citizens on issues affecting the state.
The organisers said arrival and registration will take place between 12 noon and 1 p.m., with the Town Hall Meeting commencing promptly at 1 p.m. The invited candidates are Hazeem Gbolarumi of the PDP; Barrister Sharafadeen Alli of the APC; Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi of the APM; Chief Adegoboyega Taofeeq Adegoke of the ADC; Comrade Sikiru Bayo Titilola-Sodo of the AA; Mr. Sola Kareem of the LP; Mr. Kunle Olatunji of the ADP; Mr. Yusuf Akim Adebola of the NDC; Oloye Saheed Oladele of the AAC; Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat of Accord; Mogaji Olusegun Agboola of the SDP; and Dr. Yunus Kareem Ayandoye of the PRP.
The Independence Day edition is expected to provide an opportunity for the candidates to engage citizens and other stakeholders on their respective visions and policy priorities ahead of the 2027 election. Political stakeholders, civil society representatives, community leaders and members of the public are expected to attend as the organisers seek to promote direct civic engagement and public discussion around the future of Oyo State.
The programme will be broadcast live on Success 105.3 FM, Ibadan, while members of the public will also be able to follow the proceedings through Success FM Live on Facebook and the station’s other social media platforms. The organisers stated that admission into the conference hall will be on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to available space, with security arrangements put in place for the event.
Announcing the programme, Alhaji Jagunmade Adesina Paj 1, General Manager, Success FM Ibadan, urged interested members of the public and stakeholders to take note of the venue and time as the station prepares to host the Independence Day edition of the Public Square Town Hall Meeting.
