The All Progressives Congress APC in Oyo state has condemned the reported attacks by suspected bandits who stormed an Operation Burst Base located at Tesi-Apata Village in Olorunsogo local government area on Sunday stating that the incident has raised more questions on the functionality of the multi-billion Naira surveillance aircrafts recently purchased by the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde.

The gunmen, according to reliable sources, operated for more than an hour without being repelled as there was no surveillance activity in the same axis where Gov. Makinde located the Base Station for the two security aircrafts which the State government claimed to have received and deployed for security surveillance purposes recently.

In a statement issued on Monday and made available to journalists in Ibadan by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, Oyo APC described Gov. Makinde’s incessant criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms as an exhibition of poor knowledge of economic management, human capacity development and nation building.

“On many occasions, Gov. Makinde has said that the removal of fuel subsidy and floatation of Naira by the Tinubu administration was designed to punish Nigerians and enrich the governors. Going by his claims, he has been enriched tremendously as a serving governor but the fundamental question is about what he has done to transform the life of the common man in Oyo state in the last seven years.

“It is apparent that Gov. Makinde lacks the capacity to create wealth, offer good governance and provide security with the enormous resources at his disposal as he continues to waste tax prayer’s money on inanities and cosmetic projects. A good example is the N7.8billion which he spent on the procurement of surveillance aircrafts when he could have used five per cent of the amount on cheaper technological softwares and hardwares to achieve better results.

“Just yesterday, security of the entire Pacesetters State was shaken up to its roots when insurgents unleashed terror on the Operation Burst Base located along Igbeti-Igboho road in Olorunsogo local government area of the state. At the end on the over one hour operation, the gunmen carted away all the weapons in the hands of the security agents and set ablaze their operations van but it is gladdening that no casualty was recorded during the attacks.

“Since the day Gov. Makinde celebrated the purported delivery of the two aircrafts, nothing has either been heard or felt about their deployment to survey the airspace in the state. Sad enough, the same Igbeti where the Base Station for the aircrafts was reportedly situated came under heavy attacks for more than an hour and there was no surveillance aircrafts to track the attackers and possibly repel them. Therefore, it is safe to say that the whole story about security surveillance aircrafts is another scam.” Sadare said.
