Concerned Youths of Oyo State has called on the Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Sharafadeen Alli, to publicly present a comprehensive account of his achievements since assuming office in 2023.
The group, in a statement questioned what it described as the visible impact of the senator’s representation across the nine local government areas that make up Oyo South Senatorial District. The youths urged the lawmaker to provide constituents with a detailed scorecard of projects, empowerment programmes, and legislative interventions undertaken during his three years in the National Assembly.
According to the group, the call became necessary amid increasing political discussions ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly as Senator Alli has recently declared his intention to contest the Oyo State governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The youths also drew comparisons between Senator Alli and Adeola Olamilekan Yayi, the senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District in neighbouring Ogun State. They argued that constituents deserve the opportunity to assess and compare the developmental footprints, constituency projects, and legislative performances of elected representatives across different senatorial districts.
“We believe public office holders should be accountable to the people. As discussions about the 2027 governorship race gather momentum, Senator Alli should present his achievements to the people of Oyo South and allow the public to objectively evaluate his performance,” the statement noted.
The group maintained that democratic representation goes beyond legislative participation and should be measured by tangible projects, constituency engagement, youth empowerment initiatives, and efforts aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
Senator Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, has previously highlighted various constituency interventions and development projects as part of his stewardship. Reports have linked him to educational, infrastructure, and community development initiatives within the district.
The youths, however, insisted that a detailed and publicly accessible account of the senator’s activities over the last three years would help voters make informed decisions ahead of the next electoral cycle.
