The primary election of the Accord Party was held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, with officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) monitoring proceedings at the designated venue.
The election took place at the Ibadan Business School, Bodija, where the INEC monitoring team, led by Engr. Keshinro, supervised the exercise in line with electoral guidelines.
However, another venue reportedly used for party activities at A3 Hotel, Orogun Road, Ojoo, was not monitored by INEC officials.
Accord Party gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Kunle Busari, has insisted he was the only aspirant who attended a consensus meeting held at the signature hotel 48hours before the party’s primary election, faulting claims around the nomination process.
Speaking during a live programme on Fresh FM Ibadan anchored by Mayor Isaac Brown, Hon. Kunle Busari, popularly known as “Gudugudu,” addressed party members and the public on developments surrounding the primary election.
Busari disclosed that the Accord Party chairman and secretary had submitted his name alongside those of other House of Assembly aspirants as part of the party’s nomination process.
Reflecting on his political journey, he explained that he previously belonged to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but left the party following an internal crisis that affected its operations.
The Accord chieftain also revealed that a consensus meeting was convened in Abuja 48 hours before the primary election. According to him, neither Oriyomi Hamzat nor former Commissioner of Police Fatai Owoseni attended the meeting.
“I was the only aspirant who honoured the invitation and attended the consensus meeting,” Busari stated during the radio programme.
He maintained that his participation in the process demonstrated his commitment to the party’s internal democratic mechanisms and efforts aimed at fostering unity among members ahead of future electoral contests.
